Programs, Activities and Events

For more than 25 years, the International Center has provided a meeting place on the UC San Diego campus for people who share an interest in international friendship and understanding. To help you make new friends quickly, we encourage you to participate in these activities!

Intercultural Programs
Friday Cafe Friday International Café
Join more than 200 other people (both from the U.S. and from abroad) for an informal lunch and conversation every Friday during the academic year from 12:00 to 1:30pm. The price for lunch is $5.00 for a complete menu including beverage and dessert. Come for a delicious mean and stay for the cultural friendships. Everyone is welcome!
I-Club Photo International Club (I-Club)
The International Club sponsors many social educational and recreational events throughout the academic year including trips, dances, movies and more.
I-Partners International Partners Program (I-Partners)
This program is designed to promote interaction and friendship between U.S. and international students at UC San Diego.
Student Beyond Borders Students Beyond Borders
This program provides a venue for international students to connect with one another, give and receive support, get survival tips, and learn about other resources.

Living in America Living In America
These workshops cover a variety of topics that are designed to facilitate and support international student adjustment to living in the U.S. and support their attainment of personal and academic goals while in San Diego and at UC San Diego.
American Pie American Pie
American Pie is an all-day event held once per quarter and it is a chance for all UC San Diego students and scholars to meet one another and learn about important issues facing the U.S. today.
AMerican Film and Discussion American Film & Discussion Program
Everyone is encouraged to learn more about American culture through watching American classic and contemporary films.
International Education Week International Education Week Festival
The IEW Festival is a student-lead celebration of International Education. The festival is on Library Walk and in the Price Center and includes informational tables, an international fashion show, and talent show.
Host Family Program UC San Diego Host Family Program
This program helps to match new-to-UC San Diego international students and scholars who have just arrived in the United States with volunteers who offer a place to stay for their first 3 days in San Diego.
Language Help Progams
UCSD Tutor Program UC San Diego Tutor Program
All UC San Diego affiliates are welcome to apply for a tutor if they feel they need help with their English conversation skills. All of our tutors are volunteers and donate their time to help international student, scholars, posdocs, researchers and their spouses with their English conversation skills.
Language Exchange Language Exchange

Community Sponsored Programs
Friends of the International Center Friends of the International Center
The Friends of the International Center are a volunteer organization dedicated to furthering friendship, understanding, and cooperation with the international community. They sponsor many activities for international students, scholars, and their family members at the International Center.
Oceanids Oceanids
The Oceanids is a UC San Diego organization promoting friendship and services to the UC San Diego community. They are open to all who are interested in UC San Diego as well as faculty, staff and active members of campus support groups and their spouses. They sponsor several interest groups including the Newcomers Group which hosts events for new international scholars, postdoc, researchers and their spouses.
International Cooperative Nursery School The International Cooperative Nursery School
This nursery school is open to all children. They offer both morning and afternoon sessions for children ages 3 to 5 years old. Some parent participation is required.
