Welcome to the UC San Diego International Student and Scholar Office (ISSO)

The International Student and Scholar Office (ISSO) at UC San Diego assists all UC San Diego international students and international scholars with immigration regulations and documents, hospitality programs, English language help, and many on-going informational and cultural programs.

The International Student and Scholar Office serves more than 4,000 international students, researchers and faculty, and their families from all over the world.

REQUIRED OFFICIAL CHECK IN
All international visitors are required to check in officially by bringing documents (passport, visa, I-94 card, I-20 or DS-2019, and any other related documents) to the International Center and completing a form. Check in takes about 15 minutes and can be done every Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 3:45 pm.

REQUIRED REGULATORY SESSIONS
ALL internationals, regardless of status or sponsorship, are required to attend. All international visitors regardless of status should learn what they need to know to maintain their legal status and take full advantage of their rights while in the USA. Information is provided on immigration regulation, health insurance, activities, etc.

Office Hours
Monday - Friday, 9 am to 4 pm
(The scholar advisors will continue to have regular advising hours during the summer period.)
 
 
  Student Advising Hours
Summer Advising Hours for International Students (appointment required):
From 06/23/2008-09/07/2008, students may schedule an appointment to meet with an International Student Advisor during the following days and times:
  • Mondays: 10:00am-12:00pm, 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm
  • Tuesdays: NO APPOINTMENTS
  • Thursdays: 10:00am-12:00pm
  • Fridays: 10:00am-12:00pm, 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

    • Walk-in Advising for International Students:
    Wednesday, 10 am - 12:00 pm; 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

    From 09/08/2008-09/21/2008, there will be limited advising hours available so staff can prepare for the new international student orientation. For urgent issues during this period, please call 858-534-3730 or send an email to icenter@ucsd.edu

    Normal advising hours will resume on Monday, September 22 (the first day of the Fall 2008 quarter).
  • Mondays: 10:00am-3:30pm
  • Tuesdays: No appointments available
  • Wednesdays: 10:00am-3:30pm (walk-in only; no appointments required)
  • Thursdays: 10:00am-3:30pm
