International Education Week Nov. 16 - 20, 2009

IEW is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. The week is dedicated to enhancing international awareness across UCSD campus as well as to reinforcing the importance of the exchange of students and scholars across borders. See calendar of events.

EAP Students Win Undergraduate Research Awards

EAP student Kenneth Wong has won the Forum on Education Abroad Undergraduate Research Award for his project called "Dangerous Delays: Impediments to Pediatric Malaria Treatment in Ghana." Kenneth Wong and Jacob Blanc have each also won a $1,000 stipend from the Education Abroad Program for their research while abroad. See UCSD News article for details.

Study Abroad Does Not Delay Graduation!

UC San Diego's Student Research and Information office analyzed the time to graduation rates for UCSD students who started as freshmen in fall 2002, comparing those who did and did not study abroad, and found that students who study abroad graduated at higher rates and more quickly than those who did not. Important Furlough Information

Effective September 1, 2009, all UC San Diego employees will be required to take an average of two unpaid days off each month (furloughs) in order to offset the State of California budget crisis. Read this document (pdf) to find out how the furloughs will Programs Abroad Office services.
