Arrival Information for Admitted Students

Check-In at the UCSD International Center
All new international students (INCLUDING transfer students from other US schools) must visit the International Center upon arrival in the USA. Failure to check in at the International Center may result in the termination of your SEVIS record and loss of your F-1/J-1 status. At check-in, bring the following with you:

  • Completed "Student Check-In Form" (need form? click here)
  • Passport
  • I-20 (F-1 Students) or DS-2019 (J-1 Exchange Visitors)
  • I-94 arrival / departure card
  • I-797 Approval Notice (if applicable)
  • Contact information (address, phone number, and email address) in San Diego

NOTE: Check-in is required for all new UCSD students who are NOT US citizens or Permanent Residents of the USA.

Mandatory New International Student Orientation
All new international students (including transfer students from other US schools) must attend a mandatory orientation session. Failure to attend an orientation session may prevent you from registering for courses at UCSD. This orientation is different from the undergraduate college or graduate department sessions. NOTE: Orientation is required for all new UCSD students who are NOT US citizens or Permanent Residents of the USA.
